Regarding whether the rubber particles in artificial turf are harmful to the environment, it has been proved by experiments that there is no harm to the environment and no pollution to the environment.
The environmental unit under the French government, in conjunction with the French Ministry of Environment and Energy Management, in a recently completed experimental project on the extraction of rubber particles from used tires, whether there is environmental pollution, the results of the experiments indicate the extracted rubber particles. It will not harm the health of the human body.
The research focused on sports grounds using rubber pellets, such as a football field with artificial turf, to check whether the water that permeates and drains from the site pollutes the surrounding environment, as well as the air quality around the site. It is also the target of sampling analysis, mainly for gas detection emitted by rubber particles.
In order to ensure the authenticity and reliability of the test data, the researchers selected three main rubber particles on the market as test samples, and then filled them into three identical artificial grass samples, and finally put the three artificial grasses. Placed in different environments around the world.
The samples of these three kinds of particles are: SBR particles decomposed from used automobile tires, new thermoplastic elastomer particles TPE particles, and EPDM EPDM particles.
In addition, the researchers placed a special artificial turf without any filling material as an additional comparative sample.
The whole experiment began in 2005. Under the normal use of the football field, the researcher focused on the water and emitted gas in the site, and finally got the following results:
Comparison report on the use of three filler materials
1. Rubber particles have no effect on water quality.
2. After the gas emitted by the artificial turf is inhaled by the human body, there is no relevant connection to the health condition.
3. Artificial turf as a filling material using SBR and TPE rubber particles, the content of the scatter is very low, reaching the level of "Relatively low" in Europe. It is safe for the environment.
4, the use of EPDM particles of artificial turf pitch, the amount of emissions reached a high degree.
5. According to the strict European standards, the water flowing out of the artificial turf from the experimental samples will not affect the environment.
The INERIS French National Association for Industrial Environmental and Risk Research has published a HRE Health Risk Assessment, which focuses on the study of the health hazards of gas emissions from indoor materials.
The HRE health assessment report submitted by INERIS states that substances emitted from three kinds of filler particles will not cause any harm to the human body in the worst case of indoor small and non-ventilated.
This poses no health risks to construction workers, athletes, adults and children in sports venues.
In addition, in the report, it is pointed out that the substances emitted by outdoor artificial turf have nothing to do with the health of the human body.
