Why Are More And More Professional Clubs Choosing Artificial Turf?

Nowadays more and more professional clubs have started using artificial turf. Do you know why?

The first is because of climatic reasons. This is an uncontrollable factor, especially in winter, the general temperature is low, and it is not suitable for the growth of natural turf. In some areas of China, the temperature even reaches tens of degrees below zero, which is extremely unfavorable for the growth of natural grass.

The second is the cost issue. According to different parameters, the artificial turf has different prices, basically ranging from 20 to 200 yuan per square meter. The general standard 11 people is about 8,000 square meters. According to 100 yuan/square meter, a site is about 800,000. The use of natural turf is less expensive than artificial turf, but there is a big difference in post-maintenance costs. The cost of turf maintenance for the five major league venues has reached 3 to 5 million euros a year, including labor costs, turf repair and replanting. Artificial turf has basically no maintenance costs, and the life cycle can reach more than 5 years. If the natural grass is used for five years, 300x5=15 million euros, and the synthetic renminbi is 110 million, which is a huge expense for small clubs. This is why the maintenance of natural grass is a bottomless pit.

As the artificial turf process is becoming more and more mature, FIFA Football Association is also promoting the artificial turf field plan. For this reason, FIFA has specially formulated the “one star certification” and “two star certification” standards. The two-star certification is the highest standard for FIFA's certification of artificial turf football stadiums. The two-star certification venue can host international professional football events, as well as FIFA's first-class events such as the World Cup. The "One Star Certification" venue can only be used for warm-up matches and training. With the promotion of the FIFA Football Association's “Two Star Certification” venue, more and more clubs have begun to use artificial turf grounds as the main venue lawn. This is a challenge for artificial turf and an opportunity!
